Why do we teach our children about the natural world? ๐ผ ๐ ๐ณ
Year 2 are extending their learning on our current theme "In The Garden". Teaching our children about nature is crucial for several reasons:
๐ Environmental awareness: It fosters a deep appreciation and understanding of the natural world, leading to a sense of responsibility towards its preservation.
๐ซ Health benefits: Exposure to nature has been linked to improved physical and mental well-being in children, including reduced stress levels and enhanced cognitive development.
๐ณ Conservation efforts: Educating children about nature instills conservation values early on, empowering them to become stewards of the environment and advocate for its protection.
๐งก Connection to the Earth: Understanding nature helps children develop a sense of belonging to the planet, encouraging sustainable behaviors and lifestyles.
๐ชด Learning opportunities: Nature offers a rich learning environment where children can explore concepts such as biodiversity, ecosystems, and the interdependence of living organisms firsthand.
**We are very lucky to live beside the Dunville Park and the harbour area in Belfast. Why not take your child for a spring walk to look for signs of Spring & nature.
