Urgent message sent to all schools π¨π¨
π¨ π¨ URGENT π¨ π¨
The Child Protection Support Service has been contacted by the PSNI to ask that we send the below statement to parents.
“The Education Authority (EA) have been made aware that inappropriate text messages, targeted at children and young people, have been sent from a number outside of the United Kingdom/Ireland.
“We ask parents/guardians to have conversations with children in their care about who they are speaking to via text message or online, highlight the potential dangers and encourage them to come forward if they are contacted in this manner or see any such request coming up on their devices .
“We would encourage all parents/carers to know the features of the mobile devices, apps and games your children are using, particularly when there is the ability to connect with people they may not know.
“Parents/Carers who have concerns that their children may be being groomed or at risk, should contact police on 101, or in an emergency always dial 999.
“Further information and advice for families is available at: https://onlinesafetyhub.safeguardingni.org/ “
Kind regards
