Remember NI operates 2 separate transfer tests - AQE for state schools & GL for Catholic Grammar (some schools accept either test so check websites for schools you are interest in)
AQE information-
Registration for the new cycle will open on Wednesday 1st May 2019. Registration forms will be available to print and download from AQE website or in hard copy from the AQE Office or any participating AQE grammar school from the end of April.
All registration forms will require the following documentation;
- Two recent, identical passport sized photographs.
- One copy of the candidate’s birth certificate (long or short) or the ID page of their passport (photocopied).
If the candidate is entitled to Free School Meals, at the time of registration, you must include confirmation of this entitlement from the Education Authority or, where possible, the Primary School. They will not accept copies of the application form for renewal of entitlement.
The fee for registration will be £50, payable by cheque, cash or online prior to the 1st May. This is waived if you provide proof of entitlement to Free School Meals.
Where a candidate requires Access Arrangements (extra time etc), further information and documentation will be provided in due course.
Registration will close on Friday 6th September 2019.
The assessments will take place on the following Saturdays in 2019;
- 9th November
- 23rd November
- 30th November
A more detailed document containing key dates and deadlines for the entire cycle will be available on the AQE website in April 2019.

GL test will take place on Sat 16th Nov. We do not have details of when registration opens for GL test so keep an eye on post primary websites. We will let you know when we hear.
