The old Bank of England paper £10 notes will no longer be legal tender after Thursday 1 March 2018
The old Bank of England paper £10 notes will no longer be legal tender after Thursday 1 March 2018. Some businesses (and banks) will continue to accept them but it is at their discretion. The Bank of Ireland has confirmed they will accept small amounts of Bank of England paper £10 notes but have not specified how long for. The Education Authority will no longer accept old Bank of England paper £10 notes after Thursday 1 March 2018. We do not want to be left with these and then have to send them away to the Bank of England to get them changed. If you have already received Bank of England paper £10 notes, can you please lodge them with the Bank of Ireland/Post Office as soon as possible?
I have attached a PDF file from the Bank of England’s website which shows the design of the old paper £10 note and the new polymer £10 note.
Other paper £10 notes are unaffected e.g. Ulster Bank and Bank of Ireland.
