The Belle Black Summer Cup – Saturday 30th June 2018 10am to 2pm
Grosvenor Community Centre look set to host the annual Summer Festival of Thanks and Diversity, on Saturday 30th June, kicking off at 10am through to 2pm. The day provides an opportunity to celebrate cultural inclusion and recognise the pivotal role of community leaders and sports in the tapestry of positive improvement.
This is truly an event for all peoples and has something to offer every age range in the family so come along and join us for a day of magical fun, positivity or simply to be together.
On the day The Immaculata Junior Football Team host the ‘Belle Black Summer Cup’.
This is the second year of the competition and it has become a mainstay in the community sports annual calendar. The team’s efforts to remember the inspirational Belle are greatly appreciated by Grosvenor Community Centre who are delighted to see her continued influence on a new generation of community leaders. In particular, Grosvenor Community Centre would like to thank Martin Voyle, Jim McKee and Chips Fusco for giving such time and dedication for our Belle.
This is a day to celebrate and recognise the value of all communities in Belfast, keeping our links strong now and for future decades.
You are invited to try out Basketball in the main hall with the Rising Stars and Pinoy Community Association from 10am to 12 noon. Or perhaps try your hands at volleyball with the Fire Blades, an Eastern European team currently reaching stellar heights, from 12 noon to 1.30pm.
Grosvenor Garden will be open on the day and you may wish to peruse the delights on offer, sign up for future participation if it floats your boat, or simply have a meander around at your leisure.
Jim McKee will be hosting his annual photographic exhibition; a treasure trove of local and wider Belfast images highlighting shared continuity and change throughout the area. Come along and see if you can spot your relatives or the old streets. Jim can also provide some narrative around the area and its peoples.
Weavers Cross, (the Belfast Transport Hub), will be on site to gauge local view points as to this development. So, make sure to have your say and be a contributor to the development of this our shared Belfast City.
Everyone loves a little bit of magic and Louie the Entertainer will be providing shows periodically through the day followed by caricature sessions. The always wonderful Joes Kart Party will be on hand for a spin and a bounce, plus surprise fun and pop up experiences and a chance to have a little bite to eat. So, come along to share in the fun and take some time to appreciate the value of Belfast and its peoples.
Greatest thanks go to the wider community for all the unwavering commitment shown to engagement and to Belfast City Council and Department for Communities for continuing to value community management.
