Sign me up - Feile an Phobail introduces a Cribby competition to Belfast
Regardless of whether you call it Kribbie, Cribby, Kerby or Kerbsie - most of us remember this game from our childhood.
And if you're from West Belfast then you'll get the chance to test your skills against the best in your neighbourhood this summer.
That's because Féile an Phobail is hosting their inaugural West Belfast Cribby Championships.
For the heats, they will be divided into districts.
- Falls
- Shankill
- Upper Springfield
- Andersonstown /Lenadoon
- Colin
There will be four categories divided by age that will play off in each sub-area. The grand final to take place during the August Féile.
Féile an Phobail Director Kevin Gamble said: “West Belfast is the home of Cribby with the most talented Cribby players coming from this area.
“I was even the Cribby champion of Rosgoill and Shaw’s Road myself in my youth.
“Young and old can enjoy this competition and take part and the personal and area rivalries will be intense.
“Most importantly it will be great fun for everyone and there will be legend status for whoever becomes the champion.
“Féile an Phobail is the highlight of the West Belfast calendar each year and the Cribby championship will be a fantastic new addition to the Féile calendar.”
