School Counselling Service
23rd Nov 2021
We are pleased to announce that we will be extending our current school counselling service from one day per week to two days per week in the weeks ahead. Katie, our school counsellor from Relate, currently delivers our sessions in school every Wednesday.
- Parents can self-refer their child to access the service by messaging our Parents Support Officer Caroline Morelli via the school WhatsApp on Facebook (no FB account needed) by DM to the school Messenger on Facebook or between 8am-4pm on 07929711746.
- Caroline will then arrange to phone you to discuss the reasons for the referral and complete a referral form on your behalf.
- Your application will then be forwarded to Relate and placed on file until a slot becomes available in school.
- Children attending counselling are withdrawn on an induvial basis from class for around 60 minutes to participate in play therapy with our trained counsellor.
- Parents will have an opportunity to discuss their concerns with our counsellor before the first session commences. Children typically engage in a 6-8 week programme. Parents are kept up to date on progress by our counsellor.
- It is important to note that you should always discuss mental health concerns with your child's GP FIRST. We currently have a waiting list to access our service so your doctor may be able to source you a quicker appointment if deemed urgent.
- Please keep up to date with school news by visiting our website and Facebook regularly.
