P7 Trip to Carlingford
Our P7 children have just returned from an action packed 2 day residential stay in Carlingford Adventure Centre, County Louth.
An action packed two-day stay saw our P7 children participate in mountaineering, laser quest, water based activities and volleyball.
The first day of adventure saw our children clock 26,952 steps as they made their way through The Cooley Mountains, a great hill walking destination, consisting of two ridges separated by the valley of Glenmore.
The landscape is one of unspoilt rolling countryside with beautiful seascapes and panoramas from the mountain tops in all directions. The views from the various summits include Carlingford Lough, the Mourne Mountains, Slieve Gullion and it’s Ring Dyke Hills, Camlough Mountain and Lake, Dundalk Bay, the ancient plains of Muirthemne and on a good clear day the Isle of Man.
So after seeing the views across Ireland it was now time to get down to the serious business of ‘attack the the teachers’, or as Carlingford like to call it – Laser Quest.
Our P7s could be seen scrambling, ducking and rolling across battlefields, fortresses, tunnels and abandoned churches all while shooting the enemy, their teachers, in the coolest outdoor purpose built arena in Ireland!
It was fair to say that our teachers tried their best, but our energetic youth with their abundance of energy won the day!
Next on the agenda was the biggest, newest and most exciting Aerial Adventure Park in the country! Our children were treated to a tree top tour through the forest canopy up on the side of the Slieve Foy Mountain and whizzed over heights of up to 60ft high.
We were treated to over 30 challenges including cargo nets, skateboards, giant log swings, monkey bars and of course Zip lines! There was a course for everyone, even Mr McCann!
No trip to Carlingford is complete without a dip in the pond, so next on the agenda was the ultimate trampoline, only this trampoline was in the glorious tropical waters of the Irish sea. Our boys and girls flipped, bounced, jumped and dived, giggling and laughing throughout, whilst Miss Barr & Ms Wilson were the ultimate cruisers, mastering the paddle stroke as they sailed around the beautiful harbour of Carlingford.
