Changes to home learning

8th Feb 2021

Dear Parent/guardian

I would like to thank you for the care and commitment you have shown in what is proving to be unique and very challenging times. I know how difficult it is to juggle working from home and supporting your children with learning in addition to all of the normal challenges of family life.

The school remains committed to doing our best to provide work for your children and we have been in communication with you trying to find the right balance between home life and home learning. Please be assured, acting on your feedback, we are adjusting our ways of working to support your children with their continuing education.

We are recommending that children, at the very least, log on Seesaw 3 times a week and complete on each of these days at least one numeracy and one literacy activity.

However, P1,2 &3 children are expected to complete one activity from the education packs and upload to Seesaw.

Ideally, we would like all children to log on every day (with the possible exception of Friday) and in addition to the prioritised literacy and numeracy activity, complete other work from the bank of material provided by each teacher and in the case of P1,2, 3 & 4 from the packs.

Further, to address feedback and relieve some of the undoubted stress families are experiencing, we have decided that Fridays will be a Fun Day. Teachers will provide a list of fun and leisure activities from which families can select and enjoy together. We hope that the non-screen day will be beneficial and batteries can be re-charged for the following Monday.

I would like to end by thanking you for your continuing messages of support and to assure you our staff will continue to work hard in these unprecedented times to provide support, care and schooling for your children. Look after yourselves and your families.

Kind regards

Mr McCann
