Anann's Arch - Belfast Creates Project with Year 5
16th Oct 2024
Engage, Create, Inspire
Today your P5 child took part in their first ‘Belfast Creates’ workshop with Janie and Karolina from Anann’s Arch. This workshop was an exploration of both visual art and movement, and began to prepare the class for their visit to a performance and art gallery as part of the project.
Throughout the workshop, Janie led the group through some dance and movement exercises, exploring emotions through movement. Karolina led the group in visual art activity, creating flowers and thinking about what flowers represent, using different techniques to create their own unique bouquets.
Here are some questions you could ask your child about their workshop today:
• Can you show me some of the movement you did with Janie today?
• What kinds of emotions did you explore in the workshop?
• What materials did you use to create your flowers? How did you make them?
• What was your favourite part of today’s workshop?
Janie and Karolina will be working with your child’s class over the next few months, delivering 3 more in-class workshops and bringing the class to a performance and an art gallery.
Parents/carers will be invited to join one of the sessions, so keep an eye out for that!
The workshops have been designed to build participants confidence, cultural vocabulary, and improve concentration individually and while working as a group. The project also seeks to open up the arts to the participants, introducing them to new techniques, art forms, and cultural venues.
This project is funded by the Summerhill Foundation(www.summerhillfoundation.com), and delivered by Anann’s Arch (www.anannsarch.com).
